Good alternative to DynDNS?

Does anyone use DynDNS or any similar service? I use DynDNS in conjunction with Hide My Ass ( It’s very unreliable. I don’t know why. I thought it’s because of Hide My Ass but it seems that the real culprit is DynDNS.

Does anyone know anything better and reliable? I don’t mind paying for it but it must work!

Have you tried OpenDNS or Google Public DNS?

User Comment:
No, I haven’t. I’ve just looked at their website and saw "Google Public DNS is a free, global Domain Name System (DNS) resolution service, that you can use as an alternative to your current DNS provider. "

So this is not for dynamic IPs, is it?

Hey Bool,

I Use DynECT They are a fully Managed DNS enterprise platform they do DNS for sites like Twitter, Mashable, Zappos, Adify, Amazon now uses them, Joyant, and some really large CDN networks as well Etc. They are basically a CDN for DNS. DynDNS uses them as backup for there higher paying clients but not for basic accounts this plus DynDNS’s software on their backend could be the culprit.

I highly recommend DynECT there the best in the industry. The only grip is if your on a budget there packages start at 195/mo. for me it is totally worth it and cheap for what they do as I use them for a couple of 100 sites. I have never had a problem. On there network your site cant go down because of DNS as the way their network is setup. I use them allot for load Balancing as I can get a lot of cheap cloud hosts and string them together distributing load and uptime across many providers for high trafficked sites then centralize my databases on Joyent or some other Enterprise based database. So all my hosts have the same info when they load from various places. Doing this I improve loading times for the end user and can easily handle 10’s of Millions of visits a day or more.

Let me know if this Helps any,
