I was using hostdime in the past. 1month ago or maybe 2. After that I moved to beyond hosting. Now I get several e-mail from hostdime that I need to pay $95 because of past due. Anyone got similiar situation? Below is e-mail I got from them:
Thank you for the reply. Yes, your account was suspended due to non-payment on 5/11/2011 but was active for the majority of the month of May. That does not mean that the account was canceled. As per our Terms of Service a cancellation form must be received to officially cancel an account and according to our records no cancellation form was received for your account. If you would like to review the Terms of Service in which you agreed to upon signing up for the account on 4/8/2011, please use the link below: http://www.hostdime.com/support/legal/terms-of-service.php Below are excerpts that apply to your account: Cancellations Shared/Reseller/Dedicated/VPS/Colocation Accounts - If you wish to cancel your services, you must complete this cancellation form five (5) business days prior to your renewal date. If your notice of cancellation is not received within this time frame, you will be liable for payment of the proceeding month and hereby agree to complete payment as invoiced accordingly. The cancellation form is located here: Late Payments: Accounts are at risk for suspension of service if payment for hosting is not received 10 days after the due date. VPS Accounts 10 days past due will be assessed a $15.00 USD late fee to re-activate service. We only accept credit cards, debit cards, or PaypPal for payment of services. Yearly plans renew automatically and are charged to the most recently updated credit card (or Paypal address) on file. In the event that your yearly/monthly charge is denied and we are unable to contact you, then the aforementioned fees to enable your account shall apply. Monthly installments will incur for the entire duration services are rendered and you remain subscribed to until you submit proper cancellation of the account. Any debt not paid 45 days after the due date will be forwarded to an outside collections agency for proper collection. At that time, the account holder will incur a $50.00 USD collection fee added to the balance previously due Many emails were sent to your regarding the past due balance and instructions as to how to cancel the account properly but we never received a reply from you until today, nor have we received a cancellation form for the account. To close the account in good standings, please submit payment for the past due balance via following link:
What should I do? just ignore them?
Thanks in avance
Did you follow the cancellation procedures about canceling 5 days prior to the renewal date?
I would not ignore them, because they may report you to collections and that could ding your credit. I read on another forum (cant remember which one) that 1and1.com did that to someone and now they have a negative on their credit report.
I didn’t follow cancellation procedure. I wasn’t aware of that. This is the first time I got something like that. I was with many host companies… From godaddy to hostgator, never needed to cancel. Just stop paying and they suspended acc and that was that.
Yes, then you’re liable. You agreed to their terms when you signed up. As Matt said, they’ll send this to collections and screw with your credit.
damn, I need to be more carefully next time… oO Thanks guys.
Honestly, just email them and tell them you emailed their tech support saying you were changing hosts and wanted to cancel the account prior to the last active month. Tell them to check your account and you haven’t logged in since whatever date that was. Insist you never heard back so you assumed it was taken care of.
It’s a shitty way to handle it but honestly it’s retarded that they want you to pay for several months of hosting in which you had zero traffic to the site and didn’t even use the account at all.
In the future make sure you cancel accounts correctly to avoid this
