New here but kind of surprised to not see any info on G content network.
I hear all about how much traffic is available but have found it hard to get good info about it.
Is anyone here using and doing well there? If not why?
I’ve been in aff marketing for a few years now and have done fairly well with organic traffic.
I am wanting to get more into paid traffic and need to pick a type and make it work.
I have been guilty of bouncing to and from traffic sources, PPV, PPC, FB, POF.
I am wanting to put a stake in the ground and make something work.
I was thinking of using the content network to do this with but find little info about how to best make use of it.
Is Google just too much of a pain in the ass to work with to bother?
google can go and fuck themselves. no support, no love for affiliates and no fucking idea. if anyone else ran their business like google they would be broke. move on. there are better traffic sources out there which convert at higher ROI’s than google.
Google doesn’t like affiliates
I know they don’t like affiliates, but I also know there are affiliates making big $$$ on the content network.
I was hoping to find a few of them here.
I’m not interested in Google search just their content network. On the other hand I am sure their content network
will be less forgiving to affiliate activity in the future….
Just create a few fancy banners and jump in to test.
I was afraid of the content network, but I got a voucher, jumped in and loved it ever since.
Cloak as well if you need to.
I’ve been reading those craps about Google lately as they claim Google doesn’t love affiliates… but the fact is Google even has their own affiliate network which is Google Affiliate Network ( if Google does hate affiliates they won’t even use the word "affiliate", does it make sense? You decide… )
So it’s extremely ironic though… from my point of view, there are just way too many people don’t want you to compete with them hence they can make more money.
Seriously, Google just never loves deceptive marketing skills and anything that’s considered shady.. sometimes if the ad is a little bit bizarre they can still ban you then people will just get pissed and say they never give any reasons…
Try to do it the exact legitimate way and use the creatives provided by those well-established affiliate networks that are with physical product such as Amazon, Google Affiliate Network, Commission Junction and the kind. Until you prove it and tell all of us that you still get banned promoting this way… after all that’s just BS.. Believe it or not? Many people that claim that is either they fail and freaking lazy or they don’t even "test" themselves and just simply say it based on what they’ve read and seen "ONLY".. So guys, what gives?
So I treat this all little negative Google stories as BS.. we can always do things in different manners, not only the shady or "lazy way" will work.. Just try the K.I.S.S way and test more on the right placements or keywords will lead you where you want, unless you don’t even want to do the work like keyword research or test on different placements with the 100% right way.. then it’s not gonna work for you and you will only end up in another Google BS crap.
Don’t listen to all those lies or rumours until you test.. the only way to get the answer is to test and run it yourself.
Just my 2 cents.
@wyffgoal : Wow, friend well said, they are alot of people tell lies, everyday what you heard majority are lies or their opinion seldome truths, but numbers never lies
Yes, I said that is based on fact as I’m working as a PPC manager for a hair removal company that mainly uses Adwords.. They spend $650k in 8 months and I have all this data… I just don’t have the funds to run that kinda stuff myself "yet" but I know Adwords does work… I’m really tired of reading all those "craps" about Adwords.. Guys, TRY IT YOURSELF! But please… don’t do something shady then claim that it doesn’t work, sometimes being too "creative" will trigger the ban hammer too, so you get what I mean.
Thanks for the info. Nice day job.
Adwords is badass… if running something they are actually ok with, it’s probably the easiest traffic source I’ve seen to get profitable.
Anyone know of a few good offers that "work" in adwords content network? Just want to know a few specific ones that affiliate networks have since I’m too scared to test most of them of account suspensions! lol I know commissions junction and amazon etc are legit but what about those from affiliate networks? For example any from EWA?
Hey man, there are a few posts. Ask away and I’ll try to answer what I can. The general rule is "anything you could advertise to your grandmother" is what I go by
Is there some basic guide for the GCN around? Not the click here, click there type of post but something you get started with placement targeting?
One question I have is about CPC costs.
To test things out I made a text ad campaign on the content network and was pretty surprised to see how high my cpc was.
Can I expect the CPC to go down as I prune losing placements and improve CTR?
Yes, pretty much, but it will also depend on how tight you target. How do you have your campaign setup
The best affiliate training I’ve seen on GCN is the video series from Mike Collelo that I got free with my Adbeat subscription. Mike is on this forum occasionally so maybe you can work something out.
@naildog Yeah I watched his adbeat webinar and learned a good deal.
@Daks right now I am just running text ads about 60 ad groups 5-20 themed kw’s per ag.
for grouping I used a beta tool out by Google for contextual targeting.
I am going to let it run/mature for a bit then run a placement report and pull performers into a placement campaign.
Going well so far and no ban yet….
I have join adbeat with the monthly subscription will i have access to those Mike Colella videos ? or those are just available to people paying 1 year upfront ?
GCN was my best performing traffic source before G started banning everyone. I was doing 1 kw/ad group and testing out multiple ads. I optimized by ad CTR and deleted sites that didn’t perform well.
What kinds of offers were you seeing success with?
Are you direct linking? If not, what kind of lp’s are working? Do squeeze page landers work well, or do you need to disguise it as a blog with an optin?
I’m trying to understand if whatrunswhere or adbeat could help me sell clickbank products or improve my neverblue’ earnings
naildog is this the webinar you’re talking about? http://www.adbeat.com/webinar/ttvideo
What do you think about my next thing to try ?
is it worthwhile?
Although the volume is not nearly as high, once you optimize on the content network its the steadiest PPC I have ever found. Very little competition now and historically.
when everyone says google is crap, they dont like affiliates, bla bla bla…..its a good time to go a test and see whether you can find a way.
key is to look legit and hide the fact your an affiliate.
WRW/AdBeat can give great insights.
But as well as creatives, make sure you look at the funnel and site structure.
Do a search for golf or insurance and try and find campaigns that are being run by affiliates, but not obviously.
If anyone has a guide that would be cool. I no longer have an adwords account as I got banned like many of us ;(
If anyone would like a guide made up let me know and I’ll put it together. What does everyone want to see?
